Fish stuffed paratha

Ingredients

For paratha:

·         Wheat flour – 2 cups
·         Water - as needed
·         Salt to taste
·         Ghee - 2 or 3 tsp

For filling:

·         Tilapia fish fillets - 2
·         Onion ( finely chopped ) - 1medium sized
·         Ginger paste - 1 tsp
·         Garlic paste - 1 tsp
·         Greenchilli – 2 finely chopped
·         Tomato - 1 finely chopped
·         Fennel (perumjeerakam) powder – ¼ tsp
·         Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
·         Fish masala powder – 1 tbsp
·         Garam masala powder – ½ tsp
·         Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
·         Salt to taste
·         Coconut oil

Preparation:

Making fish masala mix:
  1. Wash and soak the fish fillets for 5 mins in water combined with lemon juice.
  2. Rinse and drain the fillets.
  3. Marinate the fillets with turmeric powder, pepper powder and salt for 15 mins.
  4. Cook the fish fillets and chop it into small pieces and keep aside.
  5. Heat oil in a pan.
  6. Add chopped onions, ginger, garlic and green chillies. Saute it till the onions becomes translucent.
  7. Add chopped tomatoes and combine well. Mash the tomatoes and add a little salt.
  8. Add fennel powder, fish masala powder and garam masala. Saute till raw smell goes.
  9. Add chopped fish pieces into this mixture and combine well.
  10. Cover and cook the masala mix for few mins till it becomes dry.
 
Making parathas:
  1. Combine wheat flour,  salt and ghee in a bowl.
  2. Add water and knead to make a dough which is not sticky.
  3. Take lemon sized balls of dough and flatten each balls. Dust it lightly to avoid being sticky.
  4. Place the flattened balls on the rolling board and roll it to thin round shaped paratha.
  5. Make two such paratha and keep it aside.
  6. Place one paratha and spread 1 or 2 spoons of fish masala mix. Cover them with another paratha on top.
  7. Seal the edges of the parathas by pressing around the sides.
  8. Heat a non stick tawa and spread a little ghee.
  9. Place the stuffed paratha and heat both the sides till it starts to puff and brown spots appear.
  10. Serve hot.


Notes:

You can use any fish which is available.
