Prawns/ Shrimp Briyani

Do you have some fresh prawns with you. Then just try how to make a yummy prawn biriyani using this simple recipe.



Ingredients:

  • Basmati rice - 2 cup
  • Fresh Prawns(Shrimp) - 400 gms
  • Green peas - 1 cup
  • Onions - 5 medium sized
  • Tomato - 3
  • Lemon juice - 2 tsp
  • Red chilly powder - 2tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste - 3 tbsp
  • Cinnamon(break into small pieces) - 2
  • Cardamom - 3
  • Cloves - 2
  • Coriander leaves - 2 sprigs
  • Cashew nut - 10
  • Oil - 4 tbsp
  • Water - 6 cups
  • Salt to taste

Preparation:
  1. Wash the rice and soak it in warm water for 30 mins.
  2. Drain the soaked rice and keep it aside.
  3. Clean the prawns and marinate it with salt, turmeric powder, lemon juice. Keep it for 10 mins.
  4. Finely chop the onions and tomatoes.
  5. Heat oil in a pan. Add cinnamon, cloves and cardamom into it and fry it for 5 mins.
  6. Add the chopped onion and saute until it becomes golden brown. Add ginger garlic paste and heat it for 2 mins. Then add garam masala powder, turmeric powder and chilly powder.
  7. After 5 mins add chopped tomatoes and smash it to combine well with the other ingredients.
  8. Then add marinated prawns, green peas and water to the pan and leave it to boil.
  9. When the gravy starts boiling add the rice and mix well.
  10. Cook on mid flame until the rice and prawns are cooked.
  11. Garnish with fried onions , chopped coriander leaves and cashews.
  12. Serve hot with salads.
