Chana dal (Kadala Paripu) fry



This an easy chana dal fry recipe. Its a healthy and tasty.


Ingredients


·         Chana dal(Soaked for 15 mins)- 1/2 cup

 ·        Onion(Finely chopped)-1 medium sized·      

·         Ginger(Finely chopped)-1tsp

·         Garlic(Finely chopped)-1tbsp

 ·        Red chilli powder-1tsp

·         Turmeric powder – 1/2tsp

·         Garam masala-1/2 tsp

·         Curry leaves- 2 sprigs·        

·         Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp

·         Cooking oil(preferably coconut oil)-1 tbsp

·         Salt to taste

For grinding

·         Grated coconut - 1 cup
·         Green chilli- 1
·         Shallots(Kunjulli)-3 nos  

Preparation:
  1. Grind the ingredients under grinding and keep aside. You may add 2 tsp water while grinding.
  2. Cook the soaked chana dal in a cooker with 1/4 cup water and salt, till its done.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When it starts to splutter add chopped onion, ginger, garlic and curry leaves . Saute it well till it turns light brown in color.
  4. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder and the garam masala to it. Stir it for 5 mins.
  5. Add grinded paste and salt. Stir till raw smell goes. Add cooked dal to this mixture and blend well. Stir for 5 more mins.
  6. Remove from flame and serve hot.
