Coconut chutney for dosa/idli



There are many varieties of chutneys. But coconut chutney is the one we usually have with idli or dosa. The one which is very easy to prepare and tastes good...




Ingredients

·         Grated coconut  -1 cup
·        Ginger -  1/2 inch piece
·        Shallots ( cherya ulli ) - 4
·       Green chilli  - 2 or 3)     
·       Salt  to taste
·      Cooking oil

For tempering

·        Curry leaves  - 2 or 3 sprigs
·       Mustard  -  1/2 tsp
·       Dried red chilli  - 2

Preparation:
  1. Grind together grated coconut, green chilli, shallot, ginger and salt.
  2. Heat oil in a pan.
  3. Add mustard seeds. When it starts to splutter add dry red chilli and saute for few mins.
  4. Add curry leaves and saute for 2 mins.
  5. Add grinded coconut mixture and combine well
  6. Remove from flame and serve.
