Pepper Chicken

Ingredients

Chicken –
400 gms

Crushed
Pepper –2 tsp
·
Lemon
juice – from 1 lemon
·
Salt to
taste
·
Onion – 2
large, sliced
·
Ginger
& garlic paste- 2 tsp
·
Greenchilli
– 2, split lengthwise
·
Fennel
(perumjeerakam) powder – ¼ tsp
·
Turmeric
powder – ¼ tsp
·
Chicken
masala – ½ tsp
·
Soya
sauce – 1 tsp
·
Tomato
sauce – 1 tsp
·
Curry
leaves
·
Coconut
oil
Preparation:
- Cut the cleaned chicken into medium sized pieces. Marinate the cleaned pieces with salt, crushed pepper (1 tsp) & lemon juice.
- Heat oil in a pan & add sliced onion. Let it brown. Add ginger- garlic paste, green chilli and curry leaves. Sauté it till the raw smell goes. After few mins add crushed pepper(1 tsp), turmeric powder, fennel powder and chicken masala. Stir for another 2-3 mins. Add soya and tomato sauce and combine well.
- Add half cup of water and salt . Add marinated chicken pieces. Mix everything well and make sure that chicken pieces are covered with masala. Let it boil.
- After boiling cover and cook it till the chicken is done at a low flame. Stir continously and add more water only if required. Once the chicken is cooked, add few curry leaves and continue cooking for another 5 mins.
- Remove from flame. Garnish with sliced onion & lemon.
Notes:
- Crush the whole black pepper (do not powder).
- Prepare this dish in advance, so that the dish will get a darker shade and flavours settle in.
