Kallu shappu beef fry


             Beef fry is a very popular non veg dish among all Keralites. But Kallu shappu beef fry recipe is entirely different from our usual beef recipes. You might have heard of Kallu shappu dishes and as you know they are spicy and in the same way delicious too. Even you can have a try on this and its simple as described below and relish the dish. Ingredients

·         Beef - 1/2 kg(Cut into small pieces)

For marination
 
·         Shallots(Kunjulli)                                       - 1 cup Crushed
·         Crushed Garlic                                          - 1 tbsp
·         Crushed Ginger                                         - 1tbsp
·         Red chilli(crushed)                                     - 2 tbsp
·         Pepper powder                                          - 1 tsp
·         Coconut bits- 1 inch size (Thenga kothu) - 1 cup
·         Garam masala  powder                            - 1 1/2 tsp
·         Meat masala  powder                               - 1 1/2 tsp
·         Turmeric powder                                      - 1/2 tsp
·         Coriander powder                                    - 1 1/2 tbsp
·         Vinegar                                                     - 2 or 3 tbsp
·        Salt to taste

For tempering

·         Cooking oil(preferably coconut oil)        - 5 tbsp
·         Curry leaves                                            - 2  or 4 sprigs

Preparation:
  1. Clean the beef and cut into medium sized pieces.
  2. Marinate the pieces with the ingredients under marination and keep it aside for 30 min.
  3. Take a pressure cooker. Add marinated beef to it and pour some 2 or 3 tbsp water. Pressure cook till the beef is properly cooked.
  4. Open the cooker and make sure that there is no excess water. Make it dry before tempering.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and add curry leaves.
  6. Add cooked beef and keep on stirring till it becomes dark in colour.
  7. Remove from flame and serve hot.
Notes:

  1.       Cut the beef into small pieces preferably 1 inch sized. 
  2.        I waited for 3 whistles to get the beef cooked. It depends on the beef. 
  3.       Add enough oil while stirring so that beef won't stick on to the pan.
