Beef Fry Kerala Style
Beef fry kerala style is an easy recipe yet a satisfying one. This beef fry is a perfect treat for your taste buds. This is one of my favorite. Hope you all will try this one and send me your feedback and photos of this recipe.
Ingredients:
- Beef - 1kg
- Big onion - 1 or big sliced
- Garlic - 5 sliced
- Ginger garlic paste - 2 tbsp
- Turmeric powder - 2 tsp
- Red chilli powder - 1 tbsp
- Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
- Pepper powder - 2 tbsp
- Garam masala powder - 2 tbsp
- Cloves - 4
- Cinnamon - 1 medium sized piece
- Cardamom - 2
- Fennel seeds - 2tsp
- Star anise - 1
- Coconut bits - 1/4 cup
- Curry leaves - 3 sprigs
- Salt to taste
- Coconut oil
Preparation:
- Cut beef into small pieces, wash well and keep aside.
- Marinate the beef pieces with 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste, 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tbsp red chilli powder, 1 tbsp pepper powder and salt. Marinate for minimum 30 mins.
- Cook the marinated beef pieces in a pressure cooker till its done. For me it took 8 whistles.
- Take a pan and heat some oil. Add cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, fennel seeds and star anise. Saute for 1 min.
- Add coconut bits. Saute till it becomes light brown color.
- Add sliced onion and curry leaves. Keep aside 1/4 th of the sliced onion to be added later. Saute till the onion becomes translucent.
- Add 1 tsp turmeric powder, 2 tbsp garam masala and coriander powder. Saute till raw smell goes.
- Add cooked beef pieces to this and combine well. Do not add the remaining stock after cooking beef to this.
- Sprinkle some pepper powder to this and saute for 2 mins.
- Lastly add sliced onions and curry leaves and saute again for 5 mins.
- Cooking time vary with the meat and pressure cooker.
- If you want this to be more spicy you can add pepper powder accordingly.
- You can use the left over stock after cooking beef for making stew or any other curry.
