Karimeen fry (Pearl spot fish fry)



Karimeen fry is a sought after dish in Kerala. It's a popular and tasty fish usually found in the backwaters of Kerala. Today am sharing this simple south Indian recipe with you....




Ingredients

·         Karimeen (pearl spot fish) - 2 nos
·         Red chilli powder-1tsp
·         Turmeric powder – 1/2tsp
·          Lemon juice- 1 tbsp
·         Cooking oil(preferably coconut oil)
·         Salt to taste

Preparation:
  1. Clean the fish neatly.
  2. Make slits on both sides of the fish.
  3. Mix together red chilli powder, turmeric powder, lemon juice and salt.
  4. Marinate the fish with this mixture for 15-30 mins so that the flavours get absorbed well.
  5. Heat oil in a pan.
  6. Deep fry both sides of the fish till it becomes golden brown.
  7. Remove from flame and drain excess oil. Serve hot.
Note:
1.       You can also use pepper powder instead of red chilli powder.
