Mathi / Chaala fry (Sardine fish fry)
Everyone loves to have fish fry.
Mathi fry is a common sea food among keralites. It's a popular, cheap and tasty
fish. We prepare mathi curry/ mathi peera but in particular adore mathi fry.
Today am sharing this simple Kerala recipe with you....
Ingredients

Mathi (Sardine
fish) - 5 nos
·
Red
chilli powder- 3 tbsp
·
Turmeric
powder - 1 tsp
· Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
·
Cooking
oil(preferably coconut oil)
·
Salt to
taste
Preparation:
- Clean the fish neatly.
- Make slits on both sides of the fish.
- Mix together red chilli powder, turmeric powder, lemon juice and salt.
- Marinate the fish with this mixture for 15-30 mins so that the flavours get absorbed well.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Deep fry both sides of the fish till it becomes golden brown.
- Remove from flame and drain excess oil. Serve hot.
Note:
1.
You can also use pepper powder.
2.
Vinegar can be used to replace lemon juice.
