Oats-Rava Idli( Oats-Semolina Idli)


The oats idli tastes similar to the rava idli. Recipe is almost similar. We make it more healthy by adding oats. Its rich in fiber and low on carbs. Enjoy with any chutney of your choice. Try this healthy recipe for your next breakfast. 





Ingredients

·         Oats - 1 cup
 ·        Rava/semolina - 1/2 cup·      
·         Ginger (Finely chopped)-1tsp
 ·         Green chilli (Finely chopped)-1
·         Mustard - 1 tsp
·         Baking soda - 1/2 tsp
·         Hing - 1/2 tsp
·         Curd - 1/2 cup
·         Water - 3/4 cup
·         Carrot (grated ) - 1 medium size        
·         Cooking oil(preferably coconut oil)-1 tbsp
·         Salt to taste

Preparation:
  1. Dry roast the oats for 5 mins and leave it to cool.
  2. Powder the oats and keep aside.
  3. Dry roast the rava for about 5 min till nice aroma comes. Keep aside.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When it starts to splutter add grated carrot and chopped green chilli. Saute it till the carrot is done. Switch of the flame and keep aside.
  5. In a mixing bowl combine together powdered oats, roasted rava, salt, baking soda, curd, sauted carrot and water. Mix well. Add water to adjust the consistency of the mixture like the idli batter.
  6. Take the idli maker. Greese the idli moulds with little oil. Pour the batter. Cook till done.
  7. Remove from flame and serve hot.
Note:
1.       You can also add chopped cashews to the batter.
2.       If you don't add the baking soda then you won't get the porous texture of the idli.
3.       If you stock powdered oats and roasted rava u can prepare this quickly.
